For the festival kids that are all grown up, we invite you to The Time Travelers Ball, an early, time-warping dance music experience in collaboration with The Stranger.

This event isn’t about nostalgia. It’s about re-igniting your sense of imagination, something that is all too easy to lose as we get older.

It will be a night full of zany live performances, immersive side quests, and DJs taking you on a creative electronic musical journey that goes back in time as the night goes on.

For those who haven’t been, The Stranger is a wacky, one-of-a-kind club experience created by the owners of The Box.

We went a few months ago and our minds were blown. This is seriously one of the most unique nightlife experiences in NYC – both in what the space offers & the creativity of its’ performances.

Our only problem with it was that we had to be out until 4am and were the oldest ones there. Lucky for you, Matinee is solving both of those issues so you can enjoy it at a more reasonable hour w/ a crowd of grown party people.

Time: 5pm - 10pm

Music: Our DJs are crafting a creative dance music journey through time, featuring remixes & unexpected takes on electronic/dance sounds from all decades. I’m not going to put it in a genre box, but there will be words.

Dress Code: Dress for a wild night out in playful looks from your preferred decade. Nothing strict, but no athletic clothes or anything super casual.

Venue: The Stranger – Midtown by Columbus Circle

  • It’s a large, zany venue with a large main dance floor, stage, & adventurous side rooms.

What is Matinee Social Club?

We’re a community of 30 & 40 somethings that like to go out, go wild, and then go to bed.

We host weekly dance parties all over NYC, typically from 5-10pm.

FAQs

  • There will be minimal door access if capacity allows.

  • No, there are no table or large group reservation offerings for this event.

  • Legally it's 21+ to get in, but culturally it's 30+. Gen Z we love you, but this is our safe space.

  • Tickets can be refunded up to 7 days before the event. After that, they can be transferred to other Matinee events.
