Ticketing & Event Calendar

Do your events require a ticket?

Yes, all of our events require tickets so that people don’t have to wait in line and you can make plans knowing that you’ll 100% be guaranteed to get in.

Very rarely, we might do an RSVP based event with a partner, and that will be specified on the ticket page so you will know.

Can you confirm that I have a ticket? I can’t find it.

If you purchased your ticket through Matinee’s Eventbrite, you can login to your Eventbrite account in order to view your purchased tickets. You also should have received a confirmation email. If that did not arrive, please check your spam.

For events at LPR, they use KYD ticketing. We don’t have access to their ticketing records, so to view your ticket, you need to go to the ticket page for the event that you purchased for and click the login link in the top right of that page and enter your phone number to login. Your tickets should be shown there. To find the ticketing page, either navigate to the event on our website or on LPR’s website.

If that doesn’t work, browse their FAQs or email LPR at info@lprnyc.com and we will get back to them there ASAP.

Do you know when the tickets for [event] will go on sale?

If the tickets aren’t yet available on our website, we do not know when exactly they will go on sale. We’re likely waiting on final approval from the venue and staffing and will put them live as soon as we have everything locked. Join our email list or follow us on Eventbrite to get the latest updates.

Are you going to have an event on [this date]?

If it isn’t posted on the site, we do not know yet.

Generally what we do know…

  • Matinee Disco (70s-90s): Every Saturday (tickets launched ~2 months in advance)

  • Friday Feeling (old school R&B + Hip-hop): More or less every other Friday (launched ~1 month in advance)

  • Brighter Days (Vintage dance & vocal house): Monthly-ish

  • 90 vs 00s: Monthly-ish

  • Lost Gen (Gen X 80s Night): Monthly-ish

  • The Stranger: Monthly-ish

Refund & Transfer Policy

Can I get a refund?

If the ticket was purchased through Matinee’s Eventbrite, you can request a refund through Eventbrite up to 7 days before an event. After that deadline, there are no refunds.  If your tickets were transferred from a past event date to a future one and then a refund is requested, those tickets are also ineligible for a refund. (Most event companies don’t allow refunds at all, so please don’t try and abuse the policy or else we too will have to stop offering this flexibility.)

If we have a waiting list, we’ll do our best to make exceptions, but if it’s the day of or a few days before the event, a refund is definitely not an option.

If the ticket was purchased through one of our partner venue’s ticketing platforms (ex. Dice.fm for events at The Stranger or KYD for events at LPR), you will need to look on their event page for their refund policy or message them to get more information.

Can I transfer my ticket to a future date?

If the ticket was purchased through Matinee’s Eventbrite, for select events up to 4 days before the event, you have the ability to transfer your ticket to a future date or select other events through Eventbrite. If no events appear for transfer, sadly your ticket is not eligible.

Transfer restrictions…

  • Tickets can only be transferred to a future event one time. Ex. You can transfer from a January to February event, but will not be then able to transfer from February to March.

  • You cannot receive credits for events that are not yet launched.

If the ticket was purchased through one of our partner venue’s ticketing platforms (ex. Dice.fm for events at The Stranger or KYD for events at LPR), you will need to look on their event page for their transfer policy or message them to get more information.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?

If the ticket was purchased through Matinee’s Eventbrite, yes you can transfer your ticket to someone else. You can transfer your ticket formally through Eventbrite or just have them say your name at the door for entry.

If your ticket is for an event at LPR, click here to view the transfer policy and instructions.

If the ticket was purchased through another one of our partner venue’s ticketing platforms, you will need to look on their event page for their transfer policy or message them to get more information. If you cannot find an answer, please email us for assistance.

Sold Out Events – Waitlist & Door Entry

The event is sold out, can I please get a ticket?

Probably not. While we want to accommodate everyone, we don’t want to risk overcrowding the venue and ruining the event for everyone else. If you have a special occasion, feel free to email us and we’ll do our best to accommodate and respond if we have a solution, but if we can’t, we won’t respond.

Join the waitlist on Eventbrite to get updates on when tickets open up or you can try to come at the door as well. Details on both of those below.

How does the waitlist work?

When the event is sold out, you are welcome to join the waitlist on Eventbrite. If a ticket becomes available, everyone on the waitlist will be notified and it will be available on a first come first serve basis.

How likely are you to get a ticket when on the waitlist?

It depends. To be honest, this typically only occurs when we process refunds, which is relatively rare. If you don't receive an email, then no tickets have become available.

Can I get a ticket at the door?

We generally do allow very limited access at the door if space permits at our events, but it is not guaranteed as we don’t want to risk overcrowding. Door entry priority will be given to those that are +1 to a ticketed group and then on a first come first serve basis after that.

We recommend arriving when the event starts or about halfway through (typically 7:30ish) once we have a better grasp of no-shows. Please do not pressure our door staff to be let in as it risks overcrowding and ruining the experience for everyone.

For Joyface events, we are stricter on the door due to the venue size. It’s a small venue with a capacity of ~100. On average, we allow 5-10 people in at the door at our Joyface events, so if you have a large group it is very unlikely that we will be able to grant everyone access and even if you just bring a +1 that doesn’t have a ticket, we cannot guarantee entry for them. So please buy your tickets early for your group.

Pizza & Food

Is pizza included? What kind?

Yes, pizza is included with your ticket for all events unless specified otherwise on the event ticketing page. It is typically cheese pizza although sometimes we mix it up.

If the pizza doesn’t arrive or there isn’t enough, do I get a refund?

No, we don’t provide discounts if the pizza doesn’t arrive or if there wasn’t enough.

We’ve never had an order not arrive to date, so while it’ll probably happen eventually, it’s not a big concern.

If there wasn’t enough, we’re sorry and please let us know so that we can make sure to order more for future events. We have a super advanced algorithm to calculate how much pizza to order for each event, and generally try to order more than enough, but sometimes people are just way hungrier than normal or a lot of people

When does the pizza arrive?

Typically between 7pm and 8pm for most events. For Friday events, we tend to have it delivered a bit earlier because y’all seem to be hungry right after work. For Saturday events, we typically save it for later to give y’all the energy to keep going. For large event, we typically have it delivered in multiple batches throughout the night.

Do you have pizza or other food options for vegans, gluten-free, or dairy-free? Can I get a discount since I can’t eat it?

No, sadly we’re currently unable to accommodate various diets. We dream of having a system where we know all guests dietary requirements up front and can accommodate them, but at this time, we haven’t been able to make that dream a reality.

No, we don’t provide any discounts for those who aren’t able to eat it.

Can I bring in other food or a birthday cake?

No. None of our venues allow other outside food to be brought in.

Coat Check

Is there a coat check?

It depends on the venue, but currently all of our venues offer a coat check except for Joyface. It’s a small venue for ~100 people, so sadly they don’t have space for one.

Expect to pay a few bucks (potentially in cash) for coat check. Price is up to the venue.

Age Restrictions

If someone is under 30 years old, will they still be able to get in?

Yes, someone under 30 can still get in as long as they’re 21 or older. We started as a brand for Millennials, which would include upper 20s as well, but as we’ve grown we started saying 30+ to be more inclusive. If Gen Z starts flocking to the events, we may have to start enforcing, but to date it hasn’t been a problem.

If I’m 50+, is that okay?

Yes, while the core of our audience is Millennial, we have party people of all ages joining our events. For Gen X, we have started hosting a dedicated Lost Generation party. For the older crowd, we often recommend our Matinee Disco at Joyface as it has the most disco and oldies and we’ll consider a dedicated Boomer at some point potentially as well.

Can someone under 21 get in?

No, no one under the age of 21 can enter our events. We host our events at bars and clubs and it is illegal for them to allow anyone under the age of 21 into their venues. No exceptions.

Table & Group Reservations

Can we get a group discount?

Generally, we don’t offer group discounts as our events typically sell out weeks in advance.

Can I reserve a space or table for a birthday, special occasion, or large group?

Typically yes, but it depends on the venue. Each venue will also have different bottle or bar minimum requirements in order to reserve the space. Those policies are set by the venue and we are unable to alter them.

Joyface

Yes, there is one reserve-able space at Joyface that holds 10-20 people. It requires a $2k bar minimum (plus tax + tip). Click here for full details on table reservations at Joyface.

If the table is still available, you can reserve it directly on Eventbrite. Just buy the "Table Reservation" tickets for all the members in your group. If it is sold out, there is no other option available unless that group asks for a refund and then it will be re-released on a first come, first serve basis. Sadly, we don’t have a specific waitlist for the table as Eventbrite doesn’t have that capability.

Café Balearica

Yes, there is one table available in the basement that seats a group of 10-15. It requires a bottle purchase. Please email us at hey@matinee.club for details.

Hotel Chantelle

You can reserve tables through Eventbrite by purchasing the Table Reservation tickets for everyone in your group.

On top of the tickets, this reservation requires 1 bottle purchase (plus tax + tip) per every 4 people in your group. ($375 is the lowest bottle price.) If your group has 5-7 or 9-11 people, the bottle requirement rounds up.

You will select your table upon arrival. It can be on any floor. First come, first serve.

For questions, call Tommy at (646) 347-4594 at Hotel Chantelle.

The Crown (Friday Feeling)

Yes, they have multiple tables available that sit 5-15 people. Each table requires a one-bottle minimum (~$600 plus tax + tip). Email us at hey@matinee.club with your preferred date and group size for details.

If the table does not sell, is it possible to reserve it for a smaller group or with a lower minimum?

No. The $2k bar minimum is set by the venue and there are no exceptions at this time. For those celebrating with smaller parties, don’t stress. It’s a small venue (~100 people) and GA tickets are still a great experience.

Can I host a private Matinee?

Yes, we can help host your private events for groups of 50-400. Please email us at hey@matinee.club with your ideal date(s), group size, and music preferences for more information.

Private events will require a bar minimum and base fee that will vary based on the season and group size.

NOTE: If you want to reserve a private event at Joyface, it cannot be on a Saturday because we have our public Matinee there every Saturday.
